The basic pulao is a one pot dish in which the spices are tempered first and then the veggies & rice are cooked together. Shell, de-vein and wash prawns extremely well.   15. Get 1 " stick Cinnamon
  16. Make ready 3 Cloves
  17. Make ready 1 Bay Leaf
  18. Prepare Few Peppercorns
  19. Get 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
  20. Make ready 1/4 tsp Fennel Seeds
  21. Prepare 1 large Onion (Finely Chopped)
  22. Prepare 1 Large Tomato (Finely Chopped)
  23. Prepare 3 Green Chillies (Finely Chopped)
  24. Get 1 Sprig Curry Leaves
  25. Get 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  26. Prepare 1 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  27. Make ready 1 1/2 tbsp Coriander Powder
  28. Get 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  29. Make ready 1/2 tsp Pepper Powder
  30. Make ready 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  31. Take 1 tbsp Garam Masala
  32. Make ready Salt (As required)

Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the prawns lightly on both sides on a medium heat till golden. Simple Prawn Pulao Pulao is basically the Indian version of pilaf, pilau, or pulav. In India, no occasion would be complete without having this on the menu. Indian pulao is often made with vegetables, paneer, mushroom, prawn, and meat.

Instructions to make Prawn Pulao:
  1. Firstly marinate the cleaned and deveined prawns with all the ingredients mentioned under to be marinated for about 15-20 minutes or more.
  2. Wash the rice in 2-3 changes of water and soak for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan and add cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf, peppercorns, cumin seeds and fennel seeds and let them sizzle for few seconds.
  4. Next add the onions, green chillies and curry leaves and saute till the onions are translucent. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes away.
  5. Toss in the chopped tomatoes and continue to saute on medium-high heat till the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and add the kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt and mix well.
  7. Add the marinated prawns and saute it well.
  8. Add little water and cover and cook till the prawns get cooked.
  9. Add the soaked and drained rice and saute it till the rice gets coated with the masalas.
  10. Pour in the boiled water. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it bubble for a minute. Then reduce the heat to a sim and cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 12 minutes.
  11. After 12 minutes, turn off the heat and leave the pan undisturbed for about 15 minutes.
  12. When the time is up, open the pan and fluff up the rice with a fork.
  13. Serve delicious Prawns Pulao hot with homemade mango pickle and onion-cucumber salad.

In India, no occasion would be complete without having this on the menu. Indian pulao is often made with vegetables, paneer, mushroom, prawn, and meat. This is a simple pulao made from fresh prawns. But let me tell you the taste of this recipe cannot be described in words. It is a simpler version of prawns pulao.
