In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, butter, eggs and vanilla. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, white sugar, butter and vegetable oil. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir the dry ingredients first before mixing them through the wet ingredients until a dough forms (do not over beat).

  6. For apple rose, make thin slices of half apple and coat each slice with salt and rinse them. This makes the apple soft. Then place slices as shown and roll them. Prick toothpick to hold the shape of rose.

Beat in egg and vanilla until fully incorporated.
