Take 500 gms fish fillets
Take as needed Mustard oil for deep frying
Prepare 2 Onion rings for garnish
Take 2 Lemon wedges for garnish

Prepare 2 tbsp curd
Prepare 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
Make ready 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
Get 1 tsp crushed kasoori methi
Prepare 1 pinch hing/ asafoetida
Take 1 tsp jeera (cumin) powder
Prepare 1 tsp dhania (coriander) powder
Get 1 tsp red chilli powder
Make ready 2 tsp lemon juice
Take 1 tbsp mustard oil
Prepare to taste Salt
Take Second Marination
Get 3 tbsp besan (gram flour)
Make ready 1 1/2 tbsp rice powder
Instructions to make Amritsari Fried Fish:
In a large bowl, add the curd, ginger garlic paste, ajwain, kasoori methi, hing, jeera powder, dhania powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice, mustard oil, salt, and mix well.
Add in the fish fillets and mix until they are well coated. Leave aside to marinate for 30 minutes.
Heat mustard oil to smoking point and cool. You can also use any other oil as per your choice.
In the meantime, add the besan and the rice flour to the marinated fish and mix well.
Heat the oil again and deep fry the fish until well done. Remove to a paper towel to drain excess oil. To make them extra crispy, refry the fish pieces.
Garnish with onion rings and lemon slices. The Amritsari fish is ready to serve.
